Second Regional Consultative Forum
The ICSU Regional Office for Africa invites your participation at its 2nd Consultative Forum which will be held in Pretoria, South Africa from 25 to 27 September 2006.
In keeping with the ICSU Strategic Plan of 2006 –11, and the needs of Africa, the ICSU Regional Committee for Africa identified four priority areas for its Regional Office. These are: (a) Health and Human Well-being; (b) Sustainable Energy; (c) Natural and Human-induced Hazards and Disasters; and (d) Global Change. Four Scoping Groups, composed of leading African scientists and engineers, are currently preparing science/work plans on each of these priority areas. Prior to the implementation stage; the drafts of these documents will have to be evaluated by a broad base of African science and engineering communities, the ICSU family and its partners (www.icsu.org; www.icsu-africa.org), and other key stakeholders. In this regard, the ICSU Regional Office for Africa invites you and your colleagues to participate in its forthcoming Regional Consultative Forum whose central theme is the evaluation of the workability of the four science/work plans (drafts) which will be mailed to you before the end of August 2006.
